Head Up in the Clouds

I’ve my head way up in the clouds

Eyes fixed upon the stars

Lost in my own little world

But my heart lies in your hands

My heart lies in your hands

I stand apart from all the crowds

Losing count of all the cars

My arms around me curled

But my heart lies in your hands

My heart lies in your hands

Inside my brain, I talk out loud

My thoughts in covered jars

How they dance and they twirl

But my heart lies in your hands

My heart lies in your hands

Though the blues do sometimes shroud

Handcuff me behind prison bars

Your playfulness doth a smile unfurl

Because my heart lies in your hands

My heart lies in your hands

  1. A very nice musicality to this flowing piece of work Ken. The gentle placing of ‘ my heart lies in your hands’ provides a peaceful and respectful element of trust and care. Nicely worked and captured👍
    regards Michael

  2. Thank you very much Michael. 🙂 The musicality sort of came by accident but it suited the mood of the poem whilst the placing of the line ‘my heart lies in your hands’ was, as you rightly spotted, placing my trust in the object of my affection.

    All the best,
    Ken
